Variety Show: Bryce’s Nicest in Blacksburg
For our 8-minute variety show, my classmate and I collaborated to highlight local talent in our community. We featured artist Deray Manning, known for his exceptional freestyle rap skills. Our concept involved challenging him to rap using a list of words, showcasing his improvisational talent.

My Role
As the director, I was responsible for ensuring the seamless execution within the control room.
• Curating the script and preparing content for the broadcast.
• Communicating effectively with team members of our choosing both in and out of the studio.
• Overseeing the integration of graphics, B-roll, A-roll content, as well as mics (IFB) and audio.
• Managing the timing and flow of commercials during the show, alongside meeting the deadline for our airtime.
Key Learnings
This project enhanced my leadership, community, and communication skills, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in a creative environment. In directing this live production manually, it not only taught me how to be flexible, but also in tune with the directing process to ensure a successful show with what our air time was provided with.
