NRV News Broadcast
In this project, my classmate and I produced a news channel focused on community stories relevant to the New River Valley (NRV). Our inaugural segment covered significant local events, including the flooding of Slusher Towers in Blacksburg and a Walmart shooting in Christiansburg. We also discussed an increase in student leadership applications at Virginia Tech, driven by the offering of free housing.

My Role: Anchor
As the anchor, I took on the responsibility of developing the entire script for the broadcast, ensuring that each segment flowed smoothly and conveyed the necessary information. My tasks included:
• Presenting the final broadcast live.
• Collaborating on content creation for each segment, including the commercial.
• Pre-recording a segment where I interviewed Virginia Tech students about their opinions on the Biden administration's decision to halt applications for the student relief debt program.
Key Learnings
This experience significantly improved my scripting, anchoring, and IFB & Microphone skills. I learned the importance of clear communication and effective anchor techniques as well as the nuances of camera positioning to enhance viewer engagement. Additionally, I honed my ability to adapt to live situations, ensuring seamless transitions and maintaining composure under pressure, all essential skils to the newsroom.
